Poverty is a direct function of lack of education. The divide between the “haves” and “have-nots” continues to grow, providing fertile ground for rising Islamic terrorist movements. Millions, throughout the country are in desperate need of education.

ENVIRONMENT

Problems are; land degradation/desertification (soil erosion resulting from farming of marginal areas, overgrazing, destruction of vegetation), water supplies contaminated by raw sewage; salivation of reservoirs and oil pollution of coastal waters.

HUMAN RIGHTS

In the 1970’s, Morocco annexed the Southern Sahara region, an area whose sovereignty is still undecided. There are hundreds of political prisoners and allegations of torture are widespread and ongoing.
