WHY $30,000?

The extreme density of the bed rock requires an expensive, deep and difficult to drill well.

OVERVIEW: 

While in Ethiopia recently, i visited a district known as Korah. It is impossible to put into words the extreme poverty that permeates every mile of Korah - the only way to describe it is that it is suffocating. It is clear is that the place and the people who live in Korah have been forgotten by the rest of the world. How they live each minute of each day in this way is simply incomprehensible. There is NO clean water. There is NO food. There is NO housing. There are NONE of the basics that we take for granted. What there is, is an expansive garbage dump that spans for miles and miles and is the only source of food for the 60-70,000 children and the 10's of thousands of adults who live there. Driving through Korah was like driving through a documentary because imagining this to be real life is almost to hard to bear.

The philanthropic arm of an organization called Children's Hope International, an adoption agency, has worked in conjunction with the government of Ethiopia to build the Bright Hope School in Korah. It is a small dream come true in the center of a horrifying nightmare. While touring the school and the district with the Director of the school, we asked him if we could do one thing to help what would it be and he said "the problem here is so big but at the very least, we must find a way to build wells in Korah and bring clean water to the people who live there." He was right - it is the least we can do. To build a well in Korah costs $30,000. Children's Hope International has the infrastructure in place and the needed relationships with the government to get the required permission to build wells. The Power of Peace has the commitment and the drive to do what it takes to find the money. We will build one well, and then we will build another and we will keep on building so that the people of Korah can. at the very least, have clean water.  We hope you will join us now!
