In most countries, the number of Political Prisoners is small but the impact of their arrest is large. Often, they are the leaders and most visible members of groups that are trying to propel change. Arresting these leaders destroys or seriously disables the groups. Additionally, their arrest sends a high profile message and a “chilling” effect as well on those who want change. By the same calculation, forcing a country to free those Political Prisoners has a huge and liberating effect on populations in general.

GOAL: To collect thousands of your old keys to give to the UN Ambassadors of 10 countries we identify as the largest perpetrators of jailing or intimidating Political Prisoners. We will ask that those countries use those keys to free that prisoner. Each key will be tagged with the name of each prisoner we identify. At the same time, we’ll also send key sets to the leaders of those countries we identify.

3. Volunteer to deliver the keys to the UN Ambassadors or to a specific country. We need 10 volunteers. Email us keys at the powerofpeace.com.
