Holiday Stockings Project
For those in the greater NYC area (and beyond), there is a fantastic opportunity to help those who don't have as much this holiday season. The Holiday Stockings project, led by VolunteerMatch, is a program designed to help seniors, the homeless and the disabled by creating a personalized stocking filled with gifts for individuals with developmental disabilities, mental illness, homebound seniors or families living with HIV/AIDS, so that they may have a holiday filled with joy. The project hopes to provide over 600 stockings this year to those in need.
I plan on donating a good number of CDs, movies and tapes that could be heartwarming and delightful to those in need. Please join us!
How to get involved? (from the volunteer page) All you need to do to participate in this project is to send an e-mail confirmation including your name, address, daytime phone number and how many persons you wish to create a stocking for to volunteer@susinc.org. Once we receive this confirmation, we will send you the name/s, sex and age/s of your person/s and the address to which you will send the stocking/s.
Stockings must be delivered by December 4, 2009 to our corporate offices. Some suggestions for you to fill stockings with: toiletries, toys, accessories, stationery, art supplies, CD's, DVD's, small games, gift certificates, makeup, hats, scarves, books, etc
